Press release on the strengthening customer protection of the National Bank of Cambodia
On 18 August 2017, the National Bank of Cambodia issued a press release to strengthen customer protection as follows:
- Fines 400 million Riel (US $ 100,000) to microfinance institutions (MFIs) that do not comply with the laws and regulations, especially the Prakas on transparency in the provision of credit and banking services.
- Creates four hotlines, including 085 600 002, 085 600 003, 098 220 001, and 098 220 002 to get information from customers who have problems with banks and finance institutions.
- Continues to strengthen site monitoring of banks and financial institutions under the supervision of the National Bank of Cambodia.
